I finally decided to put all my cakes in one place so I created this blog--mostly for me to record my fondant cake decorating journey.

Zebra and Pink=LOVE!

Just had to post a few pictures of the cake and cupcakes I made for a friend's little girl today!

I don't normally cover cakes in buttercream, because it takes FOREVER to make smooth and it never gets perfect, but I did it because fondant doesn't smash too well for that little one year old!! (Fondant is definitely my favorite).

Loved the little penant banner!

I wasn't perfect on figuring the time it took me, but I know it was at least 7 hours (not all at once--I did some things ahead of time). These things take a long time, but once it's all done (and if I am happy with the result) it makes it all worth it! I guess it's my creative outlet these days.

Baby Girl's First Birthday

This cake I did a few months ago, just forgot to post about it.  This was first and only cake I have done since baby number 2 joined our family.  It was tough to do, especially because my husband was at work all day and couldn't help with the kids.  I wasn't sure I was going to make it in time for delivery, but it happened!  Phew...not sure I will try that again unless I have someone to watch the kids all day.

But...I do like how it turned out.

My day

Another fun day of cake decorating over at my house!  This one I split into two days, seeing as I am 9 months pregnant and my feet just can't handle standing on them for hours on end!

I had a great time with this one.  Don't you love the little trucks with the button wheels?

Baby Shower Cake

Here's my latest cake--done for a baby shower.  A friend of mine, due in less than a week, is going to be surprised with the gender so we went with a brown zebra to match her crib bedding!

This was my first attempt at doing the zebra stripes.  Wasn't too hard, but the brown fondant was not easy to work with and dried out incredibly fast.  This was my first time buying pre-colored fondant, so I am wondering if that was why.

This one took ALL day, but like the rest of them, I learned a lot and had a great time with it!

Dr.Seuss Cupcakes

Adorable right? Wish I could take credit for the cute Dr. Seuss cupcake toppers, but I can't. The host of the baby shower made those. It was an adorable shower with lots of red and blue! Of course to match the color scheme, I made red velvet cupcakes with a tourqoise butter cream frosting!

And what do you think of my new cupcake stand? I made some cupcakes for a friend and this was her thank you to me! Seriously, so thoughtful and a great addition to my little collection of cake/cupcake stands!

Congrats to Cindy and Tim who are welcoming their first baby boy in just a few weeks!

Bunco Babes Night

Have you ever played BUNCO before?  I never had...until last night!  It was a blast--seriously, my mouth hurt from smiling and laughing so hard!  Pink and black everywhere--the decor, the food, and the prizes not to mention we all wore pink as well!!  Adorable.

And...of course, some cupcakes to add to the pink and black evening!  I had such a great time making these--the colors worked and these cupcakes were quite simple to make.  My son took a three hour nap so I was able to really take my time and get some things done ahead of time--my favorite!  I love it when I can assemble all the toppers ahead of time and then just plop them on the cupcakes once I have them frosted.

SO MUCH FUN!!!

Niece's baptism cake

I had a great time making this one for my niece's baptism celebration this past weekend!

I think it was due to the fact that I did a lot of the work ahead of time so it didn't seem to take nearly as long as usual!  I also loved the colors we chose for this one--a nice pink and a turquoise/blueish color.  I loved the ribbon and the flower and everything else about it.

I got my inspiration for this cake from this one--so adorable right?

Maybe one day I'll find the patience to create this entire thing!  Until then, I just get ideas from it, or should I say copy it exactly.  I am not gonna lie, I am a huge copy cat!  (Wish I knew where I even found this one in the first place so I could give credit to the person who created it.)

Lessons learned from this one:  start a day ahead of time--makes life so much easier and makes it seem like it takes a lot less time and clean up!

Questions I have from this one:  How to get such a sharp edge on the rim of the cake, rather than a rounded edge...Hmmmm....anyone know any tricks?
